Question Oil Overfill from Factory - FOLLOWED BY - Oil Leak !

So... Just picked up my 2013 X6 with Performance Package from dealer. Started engine at dealer and let it warm until oil showed normal level (2 miles on clock). Drove home about eight miles and started car to show neighbor and all of a sudden oil indicator says "Over full have dealer service".

Sensor Glitch or did the Factory Over Fill the Oil?

Just have the dealer siphon some off, they did that to me once at a service. Its good to check the oil every once in a while as the car does seem to burn through the oil and need a top up every few months.

Dealership did not touch the oil, the question is: did the FACTORY send a brand new X6 with the oil over filled OR is the sensor malfunctioning?

Impossible to tell, did you pull out the dipstick and check it? This morning is it still stating the same fault?

I mentioned the dealership as you can't take it back to the factory.

Exclamation

So... it was determined FACTORY put in 1 Quart too much oil.
NOW, there seems to have sprung an oil leak.

I agree with the last poster...BMW USA manufacturing is really bad. I have both X5 and X6 and both came with misaligned rear passenger doors. the rattles inside these cars remind me of 1970 American cars!! my previous 3 and 5 series were solid inside and out.
I am a big fan of the brand but lately (the last 3-5 years) I am noticing major issues with quality and reliability. compared to a friend's VW and another's Audi, the BMW is a shame when it comes to how the car is put together. to be fair though, driving dynamics is still superior in the BMWs.

Looks like it was the O-ring on the oil filter. Car seems to be put together just fine with one exception. Rear bumper is mis-aligned. One rear door seems a little suspect, but not that noticeable.

It's possible BMW USA is just getting overwhelmed with orders. Good for business, bad for QC
