Whats the most you've towed with your X5?

just as the title says...how much and what hitch?

i bought a boat, its 5000 lbs dry & 26 ft long. the trailer is about 30 feet long, probably 1500-2000 lbs dual axle steel trailer. mainly ill use the X5 to launch and retrieve the boat, as it will sit at a marina. ill also possibly pull it down the road to gas it up once in a while, thats about it. if i have to move it to storage i have a buddy with a truck. Im concerned about the Curt Hitch tongue weight rating. i cant see spending $1000 on an execuhitch to strictly launch a boat. any other hitches out there with a higher rating? i really hate to cut the OE bumper with the BMW hitch, thanks!

2010 E90 335i  [0.00]
2016 F15 35i  [0.00]
2003 E53 3.0  [0.00]

Mine is 5000 lbs and 23 feet long. I towed it 500 miles when I picked it up. Personally I would never consider the execuhitch for this weight. My diesel came with the OEM hitch.

That's a lot of weight for an X5

I pulled my boat a lot with mine, including over mountain passes. 21' Boat and trailer are around 5k pounds combined. With camping and wake gear in the boat I'm sure I've pushed 6k a few times for hundreds of miles, multiple times.

Honestly I think you'll be fine launching it and driving it down the street to get gas, but that's just my opinion.

Just make sure you know the tongue weight. I would hate to over stress the unibody in that situation. 600lbs is max for the Curt, and I would stick to that. I had a Curt on mine, it's what I always recommend.

I tow my 30ft Bullet trailer all the time. I probably have around 4-5000 miles towing it. And use the Exuhitch. Its weights in around 6000lb or so.
