Those with Hardwired Radar Detectors ....

What's the easiest spot to tap for power ? I'm hardwiring my V1 and wondering what would be the easiest place to use as a power source. If you have pics please post up ! I would greatly appreciate it.

Well, I figured it out. Dropped the overhead console and tapped into a simple power source. Took all of 15 minutes. If anyone is interested in the info, let me know.

I've got a V1 I'd like to hard wire. What do you recommend?

There is a green wire with a white stripe that runs from left to right inside the overhead console. If you pop the console out, you will see it running close to where your windshield is. It's wrapped up with a few other wires. Loosen it from the other ones just enough so you can put the tap provided with the V1 right on it. To the left you will see a torx nut that already is a ground. Loosen it, and slap your V1 ground on to that. You're done ! Took me around 15 minutes. A member on another forum posted detailed pics. I'll see if I can put them on here so you can see.

Near the windshield. Just give it a good tug. Comes right off.

I used to have my V1 hard-wired but using the SAVVY is so much better. I'm not bothered by low speed alerts any more.

I have hardwiring for my three cars (X5 is one) - and I used the invisicord as it does not require a tap or any stripping of wires. I also special ordered one that allows for the connection of the V1 LE bluetooth module (which if you get a V1 you would be crazy not to have just for the auto mute alone)

I have used this same method on every BMW I have owned. It worked beautifully on my e39,e53.e60's,e70's and e90. Worked with both escort and V1 hard wire setups. The green is a switched power which on these power hungry, low charging electrical system is perfect.
