Need Advice
Hello Everyone
I am a newbie for BMW world and I need your expert advice. I am planning to buy a 2010 or 2011 X5 with 7 seats. I am looking between 30i and 35d and cannot figure out which model to go with. So far I have heard that 35d has more problems than 30i, and also consumer report gives very bad reviews on both of these models. I am looking for your help since you are the real users of these vehicles and , and looking for your honest opinion. |

I can only tell you my experience with my own 2012 X5 35d. I ordered it new. It is now 2 years and 2 months old and two minor things have gone wrong with it: A tail light had a lose connector that I fixed myself and the air conditioner fan switch had a lose connector that the dealer fixed. It now has 43K miles and it has performed flawlessly including a round trip to Alaska where we encounter a few challenging road conditions. My overall fuel consumption over 8K + miles to Alaska and back was 24.7 mpg. The torque of this engine is addictive, the noise the engine makes is much louder than the competition and the steering is heavy but precise. Oh, and the navigator is worthless but that goes for my F10 too.
I recommend you get one with Adaptive Drive. It makes a world of difference in the ride and especially the handling department Diesels with Adaptive Drive are very rare because they were special ordered only and this was a $3,500 option when I bought mine. |

We bought 35d in March of 11, new. Only problem was seatbelt had to be adjusted. We are at 43k now and absolutely love this machine.
Going to keep it for at least another 4 years. I don't have adaptive drive. I prefer without. Seven seats are nice, but don't expect to fit adults or teenagers back there. Good luck and tell us what you decide. |

I have a 2009 BMW X5 xDrive35D, and I love it. Before I bought it, I was intimidated by anecdotes about how Diesel Bimmers won't start in winter and how X5 quality is bad. You know what? I couldn't be happier with my purchase.
Also, when negotiating, ensure that you are getting 2 sets of Smart Keys! My dealership did not disclose that there's only 1 set, and that I have to pay an extra $500 to get a 2nd set made. Don't be duped, so ask prior to signing the contract. After your purchase, you should get the oil and transmission fluid replaced for your vehicle, unless they were replaced shortly before you purchase the vehicle. Otherwise, I love the truck; it's solid and it's an eye candy! |

Just get a CPO 35i or 35d and you won't have to worry. There is no way to tell if the one YOU will end up buying will be free of any issues.
