New (to me) 2012 X5 M

My wife and I purchased a 2012 E70 X5 M earlier this week; which in conjunction with my 2011.5 E90 M3 completes our BMW M Power family!

We're currently waiting for the X5 M to be delivered (from NorCal to SoCal). When it arrives it'll serve as my wife's daily driver as well as our family vehicle. She's had a Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 before, so I'm anxious to see how the X5 M compares.

Have a great holiday weekend.

Well done sir! I would love to get the wife a x5m but the e70 x5m cannot have the third row(rear suspension carrier is different than the non-m). If the f15 has one, I will be getting her one ASAP.

Pics or it didn't happen. Everything in this truck should seem like an up grade compared to the srt8s. Although I love those jeeps.

Congratulations! Let us know what you think about the SRT8 vs. X5M. I compared them back to back and as much as I wanted to love the SRT8 the X5M was significantly better. Would be curious to see if you feel the same.

It finally arrived... What a fantastic vehicle. Performance is stellar; especially the dangerously deceptive mid-range acceleration! Overall fit and finish is better than I expected. My wife and I both like the X5 M quite a bit better than the Jeep SRT8. That said, I will say this... The Jeep SRT8 definitely sounds better in terms of OEM exhaust note. In fact, I'd go as far as to say I was a little disappointed in the X5 M's OEM exhaust note. Thankfully, the M button improves the exhaust note, but it still needs an aftermarket exhaust (in my opinion).

I hear you on the exhaust. It will never sound as good as that 6.4 hemi! But aftermarket options makes these beasts turn heads. Enjoy it!!

I've done the same change except from X5M to SRT8 back to X5M, and it's a huge difference having the X5M in a good way. I think you will love it!

I really wanted to love the SRT8 - I really love the looks. The price is also right. We found one locally that was low miles slightly used good price. Dealer was even nice enough to let us take it home for the night. Put 60-70 miles on it and the next day I went and test drove a X5M (literally back to back). To me the difference was staggering - the X5M is leaps and bounds better. But the SRT8 still looks better (imho) and is more "exciting"....

I know what you mean by exciting. I bet if you get a nice exhaust on the X5M it would level it out though. I'm doing a few upgrades to mine on the exterior soon so we will see how it looks!

Congrats! Great ride, everything you read is true..from fuel thirst to acceleration that defies physics. It is probably last in my garage in terms of sound which is surprising/disappointing. Should be able to rectify in the aftermarket as others have mentioned.

My wife went from a WK1 SRT8 to a X5M.

There is no comparing the two vehicles. A WK2 is a little closer though.

Pretty bad...like sub-15. If you do a lot of highway driving, it is manageable. My commute is relatively short, so I don't sweat it. If you search, you will see a common theme...fuel economy sucks, yet so worth it

The only advice I have for someone looking for an X5 M is they're few and far between. That said, when you find one that's configured the way you want act quickly. For example, I purchased mine before the dealer had a chance to publish pictures of it online.

Best of luck.
