Can you open your hatch while driving?

I found out the hard way that if I press the hatch button while pulling into a parking space (Slow speed) the hatch will open - while I'm moving. Above 5Mph or so, it doesn't work, but below that speed, seems to work.

Now in case you are curious why I would push the hatch button while driving, I honestly did not intend to. But the button is right next to the side view camera button and I pressed that while pulling into a tight spot in a parking garage and inadvertently opened my hatch - right into the sprinkler pipe that was hanging down.

Can't you assign that to one of the programmable steering wheel buttons?

Don't think I have those. The real issue is however, why does the hatch open while driving?

I agree, it's completely silly and wrong to allow the remote hatch release to operate while the car is moving (ESPECIALLY with the power opening feature). No reason why that should be necessary or even desirable. Not to mention it's dangerous.

Sucks about the damage to your car, man.
I'm all for personal accountability, but I blame poor design for this one.
