Confused Noob - 30dx vs 35d

Hi All,

Currently in New Zealand and have narrowed my rides down to either a 35d or 40d likely 2008-2012 X5.

I am a bit confused as the vin on some Jap imports are coming up as 30dx, but listing for sale as 35d. I saw a post saying that it was how they are listed here vs there.

The 40d I am also looking at was also imported but looks like the UK but its vin comes back as a 40dx.

Does anyone have any input? I really don't want the 30d as I found it a little underpowered.
