all with aftermarket sub-woofer in the X5

I want to add a sub to the X5. Im going with the JL audio SBB-X5E70. Also going with the JL audio XD300/1 amp. Its only a 300 watt amp but as sensitive as the electronics are in these BMW´s I really don’t want to tax the electrical system. I definitely don’t want to see any headlight dimming when the bass hits. Who has successfully added a sub + amp to there X5 without any problems with the electrical system or headlight dimming? What size amp do you have? Did you have to add a capacitor?

I have not added a sub but i have looked into it. Crutchfield has a pretty nice JL set up specifically for the X5.
Check it out

I have a 500w kicker amp on a 12in solobaric. No dimming. Sounds great.

Do you get any warnings or errors from the charging system? What year is your X5? Did you do the install?

i think you will be completely fine with anything around the 500w range.

I plan on putting in a JL 12w6 with a JL 500w amp in my 2012 X5M, JL makes a great product.

with a 300w amp, i doubt the X5 will even notice its in there, you will be fine... just get someone to install it who knows what they are doing, that's more important

is there a plug and play harness for X5 to avoid cutting and slicing of wires.
I know technik had some for e90 but I am not sure if he makes something for X5 as well... any ideas ?

sorry for the late response. no warnings or anything. my x5 is an 09 with the premium sound package. my local installer that only sells jl audio did the install. they followed the directions for JL's stealthmod installation, but used my kicker stuff. after looking at the pdf on JLs site, i couldve did it myself, but they charged me <$200 bucks so its cool. no cleansweep was needed. tapped into the factory sub and used speaker level inputs to the amp. bmw doesnt mess with with the bass curve so, the bass doesnt change when you turn it up. it bangs. good luck http://www.jlaudio.com/car-audio-stealthmod-bmw hope that helps
