Hi Ouzzo,
I just reversed the right and left side time delay settings for the front and rear door speaker channels. I think Serpent720 sent a revised file with simlar modifications for his native tuning profile. Drew Quote:

I PM'd Kimo but figured I should post here for everyone else: I may get some time this weekend to backport the 3.11c profile that was based upon Serpent720's tuning file to 2.93. If I can get time to finish, I'll upload the file here.

Only use 2.93 for now. v3.11c will cut out channels.

Does anyone know where I can find more details on removing the panels in the trunk?
Is this what most people are following? http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1086883 |

Thanks Technic and JNoSol. I had trouble getting the clip off for panel #2 so I just wiggled the other panels around it.
Couple things I noticed, even with OEM speakers, the ASD is way too loud now. I'll look into coding them off later unless someone knows of an adjustment with the DSP to dial it down a bit. Has anyone else noticed a hissing sound coming from the speakers even when the radio is muted? I notice it going away when I hit the bypass option next to the EQ graph or when I lower the 8k level. Just wondering if there's something wrong with my setup or if people are just ignoring it. Thanks. |

Lower the output level of the PP82DSP. Notwithstanding, note that hiss is also present with the OEM amp so what you are hearing with the PP82DSP is a much amplified hiss.

Thanks again Technic. I lowered the output level for all the full channels by 4dB to get rid of the hiss and to maintain the profile. And lowering the woofer's by 6dB made the ASD close to what it used to be. The sound still sounds significantly better than the OEM amp. So many settings to play around with

Does enabling both # 2 and # 4 "ON" at the same time throw off the tune, or is it applied across the board to all frequencies evenly thus maintaining the tune? What about just #2 alone, or #4 alone? (I assume you mean above that dip #2 is all speakers EXCEPT center and woofers?)

Nelson preinstalled the file for an F30 with BSW Stage One since I have a Mac, not a PC, and didn't want to get involved with installing Windows or running a virtual machine. I don't have much listening time yet but am really pleased so far. I am not an audiophile but can certainly tell that there has been a dramatic improvement. The installation was pretty uneventful but those upholstery clips are a pain in the neck. When I first fired it up I had no sound so I reinserted the plug in the cable firmly and after it clicked in place I was pretty sure I had found the culprit. I had. I suggest testing it before you start putting all of the trim back in just in case. It all went back together more quickly than it came apart. The DIY from earlier in the the thread was pretty much spot on. As a reminder you need not remove the storage cubby under the trunk floor. Also, remember to reconnect the power outlet before reinstalling the left side panel. Thanks to Nelson and Bimmer-Tech for making the group buy available. It was a great deal that should enhance my listening experience for the foreseeable future.

Ok thanks - not sure that answers my question about affecting the tune, but I do see that turning 2 ON boosts all channels by 2dB, which I will try. But does also turning 4 ON boost the subs by ANOTHER 2dB (total 4dB)?
Not entirely clear. And if I'm boosting the subs only then that would seem to alter the tune, right? Quote:

Yes, is +2 (#2) and another +2 (#4)... you will notice if you do it and listen to the result.
That is output level boost or attenuation as stated in that page of the manual, regardless of the tune. Quote:

Thanks Technic - really appreciate your input here.
My point on the dip switches wrecking the tune is perhaps academic, but my logic goes as follows: I spend all day finely tuning the sound curve to my cabin and my ear, increasing the boost a little here, decreasing it a bit here, until I'm really happy with the overall balance of the curve. That night, "Junior" opens my panel and throws dip switch 2. Next morning, I'll notice perhaps a boost of 25% or so in the overall volume of my stereo but the curves should remain the same from a relative perspective. I just turn the volume switch a bit counterclockwise and I'm back where I was yesterday. The next night, Junior flips #4 because he likes the more pronounced bass. In effect, he's blown my curve because the overall effect is the same as if I altered the curve to boost the lower bass frequencies by about 25% while the rest of the curve stayed the same. I can turn the volume switch a bit counterclockwise but the bass will always be heavier than it was before the dip switch was thrown, right? Or am I simply missing something here?

Anyone do this on an F31 and have trim removal instructions? The old amp almost comes out after removing just 4 nuts and one plastic piece, but not quite. A bit more needs to come out, but the mount hole for the retaining system is in the way and I'm not sure how to remove it or get the trim out from around it. Any tips?

See the DIP switches as the gain knob in an amplifier. You are changing the slope of the volume curve.
