who knows when that's coming out. the F10 5-Series is what, a year away? will the M5 debut with it? doubt it. it'll probably come out a year or two after the new 5-series comes out.

A 2009 5 series 550i is $60k, a 2009 m5 is $85k so that's about a $35k premium. a 2009 x6 50i is $66k so assuming the same premium it would be about $101k. So I would think you guesses are in the ball park. |

X6M over 100,000 euro...that's around $130,000 . I'm sure that base price includes the 19% tax. Either way I guess I'm gonna stick with the 5.0i and save the money, it ain't worth paying that much for extra HP and some system tweakings.
Also within the video, around 0:43 & 4:50 min, you'll notice the new iDrive home screen, same as the one in the new 7-series, which confirms the availability. According to my sources, the new iDrive system will be included starting from April 09 Production as a 2010 model. Last edited by XBMW6; 03-16-2009 at 07:37 AM.. |

Unfortunately, your sources are not correct because I just went through the buy-back process with BMWNA with my 2008 X6 50i and they confirmed that new iDrive will not be available in X6 until October and will most likely be 2010 model. Probably the same time the X6M will be debuted.

Got the same answer from BMW too. They pushed this out from March into September/October when the production of the 2010 model starts.

Let me clarify...I'm based in Kuwait and the information I received came from the regional manager in Dubai. Recently, I spoke to our local BMW manager and asked him about the availability of iDrive in X6. He inquired from headquarters and got a confirmation that iDrive will be available starting from Apri 09 production. Anyway, I'm going to give him a call next week and confirme this issue just in case there's a misinformation. Also, regarding the year model, usually next year model for our market starts from april production, and takes about 3 months for delivery after that. I also asked him about X6M, he said that production will start in July and delivery in Sep/Oct 09. |

I received a call from our local BMW manager and told me that he spoke with the regional manager in Dubai and confirmed that iDrive will be available starting from April 09 production as a 2010 model. As I have mentioned before, the next year model in ME region starts from April production and delivery 2-3 months after. He confirmed the X6M production as well in July 09.
Apparently, iDrive is planned to be available in all 2010 X6 & X5 models. I would suggest to check with BMWNA and inquire about the production dates for 2010 models. Last edited by XBMW6; 03-22-2009 at 08:08 AM.. |

Good thing that BMW decided to introduce this on April 4th and not on April 1st or else you could think this is all just an April fools joke
I think after looking at the site again, that the M engineers are still in that container and are tweaking the engine... Their boss told them they only get out of that container if they can bump the output to 550HP+

What I am really wondering about is how much torque it's going to have, after all HP is good if you're a light car but for something this heavy it's the torque that counts.
And if they bump the torque to be proportional to the current 50i (hp/torque) then the trans and DPC would need to be hardened to accommodate. This might be easy for the trans but I suspect the problems might come with the DPC. Oh well hopefully they will not have to put a butt ugly dome on the rear end to house the bigger DPC... |

Just had another quick look at the latest leaked photos of the X6M. I figured that they would have lowered the X6M a bit over the regular X6, but judging by the photos of the red X6M, they didn't...
They also added another cover on top of the engine, my guess due to the extra heat generated from the engine, they needed to force more air over or through the engine compartment. That's probably also the reason for the additional 'huge' air vent openings in the front fascia. They need to get that heat out somehow And it's got the NEW iDrive... Love the looks of the interior! It looks sharp!

well I've heard the HP and torque numbers now I want to here the dollar number. I was expecting a lot more so wondering what they think they can charge. If it's the expected $100k+ then Dinan would be a much better deal.
