...ultimately mounting the camera at the top of the window. I can see the power light on and the camera itself while sitting in the car, which I'm not a fan of. I'd tried seeing if I could mount it at the bottom of the window, but between the wiper blade arm, a defroster line and the fisheye of the lens causing everything to look weird, I chose to leave it at its higher location.

As for the power wire, I continued tucking it behind the factory gasket, pulled it behind the backseat right shoulder bolster...

...ran it behind the C pillar, behind the vent and along the window until I reached the D pillar (mind you it was already moved from running the wire to the rear camera)...

...and then fed the plug directly into the power port. Since the Power Magic Pro isn't what I thought it was, I'm going to sell it in exchange for getting a normal battery like mentioned earlier.

That black wire that appears the be running behind the radar detector and remote start antenna is actually a shop light outside the car. The finished product only girls will see when laying their head in my lap :-)

Last but not least, everything can be viewed on my 7" tablet which before was only used to monitor vitals using the Torque app then read/clear CEL lights or do coding via the Carista app. I'll have to take a cockpit picture later this evening because I'm sure this all sounds cluttered, but it's not. The tablet I've been running for months, so now the only extra thing I see is the radar detector.

Thanks everyone, and to denaliman for the video you'd created as it'll come in handy when I run a dedicated battery instead.

Happy it worked out I basically ran the rear the same except I mounted the camera just under my third brake light and ran the wire between the window trim covers and through the factory wire loom grommet for the brake light, then across under the headliner to the rear passenger pillar, tucked all the wiring behind the window surrounds. Once I got to the front I tucked up inside the front window headliner, drilled small holes in the rear view mirror housing and tucked all wiring inside then out to camera. Looks factory not a wire showing. If the rear light bothers you take a hole punch and some black electrical tape, punch a hole in the tape to make a small dot and put that over the light.

BMW X5 e70 lci 2013 How do you hide the rear dash cam wire in the rear quarter panel
Hi I have installed front and rear dash cam in my 2013 e70 X5. The rear quarter panel headliner is so tight I could not get the wire behind it by th top of the glass. Is there a way of doing this without breaking the glass?
