The new X5, to me, represents something so much more than you could imagine.
Starting with the double-wishbone set-up up front (finally!), the jaw-droppingly gorgeous interior that rivals anything Audi can put out, the muscular-but-not-too-muscular sheet metal, the engines, the elimination of the i-drive double-hump, the TRICK-as-fuck shifter, even the chrome trim that isn't broken into a million pieces like on the E90 and actually flows continously around all the windows (door seams are the exception of course) and under the door mirror ('bout time they got that one right). To me it represents a sort of fulfillment of the quality products that we all knew BMW could build if they wanted to. It's a fusion of Audi attention-to-quality-detail and BMW performance-and-style. That's why in my mind, even if the lines are a tad awkward in some places compared to the MK1 X5, this new generation is the most beautiful thing to come out of Munich since, well... the Z8. Or in this case... South Carolina.

I think it looks nice, except the front kinda looks like X3 a little. But overall, it is one beautiful car!
Question here: is it only me who see very similar body line of Cayenne from the New X5? |

One thing about BMW is that they are not afraid to experiement and they always know how to make new ideas and innovation sell. Maybe thats why they are changing their slogan. I see they snatched the parking brake release from Audi. I like the Q7 interior and exterior better but I know the X5 will out handle it.

Programmable buttons :)
A lot of websites have the pics no, but autobild, which is usually spot on, also mentions that below the audio control there are 8 buttons which are completely programmable.
Don;t know if they will have icons, but they mention stuff like single button access to a predefined GPS destination, or a specific application/function, like radio or gps. |

meh. I was never impressed with a BMW SUV, but I guess they would be foolish not to ride the market demand.... Even Porsche felt the need to make one (another travesty IMO).

I think the new X5 is beautiful! I like it way more than the Cayenne. If I do own a SUV the E70 X5 would be it! I love how they update the look while keeping all the design elements from the previous generation X5. Also, the interior is stunning!.. with nice gadgets and all (I wish the PDC on our car is the same as the one shown in the pic) Not sure if I like the shape of the new steptronic shifter though... I thought it was a microphone for the in-car karaoke system... Good job BMW! -hkj |

Um, shouldn't this be in General Car Talk forum.
I'm sorry but I just hate ALL SUV's even BMW's. SUV's are a nuisance on the road, and their poor gas milage contribute to our great demand for gas, makes me pay more at the pump. Screw SUV's . Granted it's not as bad as a Hummer, but in the same wasteful family. Just my opinion. if you hate hummer's go here: www.fuh2.com
