BMW E70 X5 CIC Navigation Retrofit - Done !
Hello all,
Just want to share with you my expirience in CIC Navigation and Entertainment System retrofiting to my BMW X5 E70 2007 vehicle. It has been done during past two days by my good friends BMW Retrofit Team (Quebec, Canada) First of all it is important to mention that when I went to the dealership, I was told that It is impossible to retrofit CIC Navigation System in to any BMW older than 2009 August or something. Secondly I was told that it is impossible to get such system installed because internal electrnical parts of BMW will never work together with new CIC. I almost gave up but after that I found the guys not far from my city in Canada who actually performing any types of retrofitting for BMW vehicles including CIC retrofitting too, as well as any types of remote coding for your BMW. It was very good met! After meeting with them in person we "signed" the contract and they did my retrofit with my help of course I was picturing it and studing too. So below are the pictures I've made. Please feel free to ask me any questions about this retrofit. Yeah and by the way - I want now to show to my stealership How it is impossible to retrofit CIC in my E70 |

Good job.....but can u tell us how much it cost ?????
I went to their website...the system itself cost $2,350 Canadians plus labor...so I assume its about $3 grand.... too much for just new look IMO. But congrats anyway..looks good.

It looks very good and it is totally different compared to my old CCC. In total it cost me 2450$ CAD for the system and complete coding + installation (I was participating in the installation too). In addition I am planing to activate my navigation with North American Maps (now there are European ones in the system ). It will cost me some extra $$$ and I am working on getting from the BMW Retrofit guys the final price for the maps + activation. |

Good question. I was warned by the installers that everytime I need to go to the dealer for the software upgrade I will have to switch back to my CCC. This procedure is very simple, just a 6 screws to remove, switch units and display and put everything back (30 minutes). New module which has been installed for PDC to work is fine to keep with the vehicle and no need to change back.

So how much are the FSC codes going to cost you for
Voice control Satellite radio Bluetooth etc I can see this getting expensive really quickly. At least now there is some competition to Patrys' retrofitting service. He won't help you unless you ge tparts from him, and his prices are higher than Ebay or bmwretrofit.com |

The price for the complete FSC solution (navi, maps, voice, bluetooth, SDARS) is about 1200$ in total. But it is not implemented yet. I decided to go step by step in order not to feel it "extremelly expensive" |

I just priced it up. Parts including the CIC main components, trim pieces and fsc codes comes in at around $4k .. Pre-coded. You would need to install the components yourself and would probably need additional coding once the components are installed. Bit too rich for my blood right now.

Also the cost of additional parts and labor should be added if you have the backup camera or the PDC. But if you ask me I really love the CIC |

Of course I am, I even have their banner in my signature. I am just a volunteer technical consultant for them since I have an Eng. degree and over 12 years expirience in the thechnical field. I am not the specialist in coding or retrofitting, more in wiring and electrical parts. This is why I do not want to take a risk and answer the questions related to the coding or pricing - which I do not know the answer for.

Ahh, so the retrofitters are battling it out. Patrys + Men (really dislike that guy) VS Vinzer and the bmw retrofit crew.
Either way, I'm not spending 4 grand just for a new look. I'd rather trade in my car and get something newer for not a lot more. ('11 model with the com box maybe)? |
