Alpine White X5 with black rims

Hello all,
I am about to take the plunge and order my X5 this weekend. I am ordering it with the M package with all options and the upgraded 20 inch rims. I havent decided weather a 5.0 or 3.5 (depending on the rates).

I wanted to know the thoughts on taking the 20 inch stock M package rims and painting them black on my white X5. Anyone have any pics of it. I got this idea from Calton with the X5 and M5. What are your thoughts and anyone have any pics of it?????

Thanks
Yusuf

Yusuf, I was thinking of painting my wheels, but was told that painting is a bad idea in states with salt on the roads. It just won't hold up, according to them.

IMO black wheels are a little played out. Just my opinion. I'm sure they will look good. If you like do it!

One of my friends C who is a member on this board as well- he painted his rims black on his X5 and he lives in NY- I don't think he has any problems- any opinions or pics of the black wheels at all on an alpine white?

Thanks
Yusuf

To me, whenever I see any vehicle with dark colored wheels, I always think that the wheels are in need of a cleaning.

I'd be interested in seeing pics of it when you do it. I also have an Apline White over black interior 50i and was also pondering the black wheels as well. I purchased the 20" sport weel package, not the M-sport though. Go with the 50i, you'll love it!!! Sooo much more power than the 35 and fun to drive!!! Best of luck!!

Buy a set of rims (there are used and refurbed ones on the web) to paint if you must have black wheels. Assuming you want to sell it one day you'll do far better with OEM style wheels than with something definitely not to the mainstream's taste. Then when you sell it put your black rims on ebay and get some of the value back out of them.

I agree - I may paint my 214's black come winter when I put the 19's back on it - the black/white contrast is killer in my book!
