H8 is for angel eyes with Xenon option...apparently E70 with and without Xenon option use different bulb for angel eyes...as i have tried to look for the angel eye bulb on my car, and it looks like it doesn't use H8...does the bulb locate next too the high beam bulb...?if so...there isn't any bulb under the high beam cover, only the high beam bulb... Thanks guys... |

The owner's manual should explain how to replace the bulb and what type of bulb it is. I just replaced by H8's with superwhites. They make the spot quite tight to work around. There should be a twist cap behind each headlamp assembly and that's where you would remove the bulb (assuming non-xenon is the same set up).
Here's a link to the bulbs. http://www.hid-lights.com/cat/hid-kits.htm Good luck. |

but the thing is i believe my e70 does not use H8 for the angel eye...as from what i heard from others...it seems like a NON xenon optioned X5 use different bulb for the angel eyes...and now i am still really confuse on which bulb i use on my E70... i tried to open the bonnet and open the high beam cover and i did not see any where i can install a bulb, and i can see the light are coming from somewhere under the low beam bulb area, which is really hard to reach if i don't remove the headlight... would you have any idea what sort of bulb do i use for my NON xenon optioned E70? Thanks... |

Hi Mate, I've got a x5 E70 2009 WITH OUT Xenons, if you ask the dealer for an exploded view diagram of the headlamp it shows you the location of the angel eye bulb (the diagram shows both the xenon and the non-xenon on the same diagram). But it doesn't list what type of bulb it is, just a part number. You'll will see a black rectanglier plastic cap in between the main and the dipped beam cover (at the back of the lamp, under the bonnet) held on by 3 or 4small screws. The bulb looks like a 501 sat in a small reflector but not sure, I'll be removing mine when the weather improves. The main beam is a H1, the dipped beam is a H7 and the fogs H11. I've got a Xenon kit (proper one with the ballast) for the H7 and all the others have been upgraded using the standard bulb but xenon gas. The upgrade kit in the halogen lamp is far better than the factory xenons (i've had 2 other E70 with the factory xenons). Will be posting info when it's done.

Thanks for the reply... I installed the H7 HID on my e70, and it works great... As you said, i can see the rectangle thing behind the headlight, it looks like the same as the e90...but i just couldn't get into that part...would you have any idea how i can reach the rectangle thing? Thanks in advance... |

Hi bud, Looking at it it might be easier to remove the headlight first, its a nightmere working at the back of the headlight can't see nothing and very limited space. I will be looking at it when the weather gets better. Don't fancy rolling around in -1 and the hollowing rain. Will post has soon as i can, but if you find out in the mean time let us know.

Angel eyes E70 (non xenon)
Hi,
Did you eventually have any luck with the LED replacement for the angel eyes for the non xenon headlight on the E70. I have the diagram from BMW but it only gives a part number and not the bulb type. You appear to have been trying to achieve the same thing, hope you had more luck than I am currently having. Regards, Andy |
