Glow Plug/Module Replacement

Planning on replacing glow plugs and module this upcoming weekend. Module went out because the thermostat was bad. Thermostat has now been replaced.

Wanted to see if there are any comments or tips from the group before I take this on. Additionally, what are some "while I am in there" things I should do while doing this job? Intake manifold is coming off, so I am sure I will have access to certain things that I should swap out. Is there an "at home DIY" way to address the carbon that will inevitably be built up in the intake?
