My E70 won't start after a failed update to DME/DDE
Hi, guys. I really wish you could help me with this one
I was trying to update my modules using WINKFP, starting with the DME/DDE (Engine) module. I followed the steps described in this video. However, when I clicked the Prog. ZB-Update button to start the coding, the program froze for about 1-2 minutes, then an (very long) error related to access denied popped out. After closing the program, I found that I messed up: the engine cranks, but wouldn't start. MY SETTINGS BEFORE THE UPDATE ATTEMPT: After the update the DME/DDE module is not listed anymore. When I tried to flash again to see if that'd work, I get the following error messages: Another important facts:
Thanks in advance for the help! |

At this point, try locate your old ZB dme number and attempt to try it again with a battery charger(hi amp) hooked up. Dme is very sensitive with juice power.
Did you flash any other module before the dme? I would’ve test it on some uncritical module before the dme. |

I did not flash any other thing before. Last thing I did was to code the battery using NCSExpert but that was long ago. These are the previous settings: ZB part no.: 7602220 ZB Number: 7603150 This is the ZB Number I attempted to update to: 8609178 The old one (7603150) is not listed here: How can I find it? |

Hi TwinSnailz !
I was table to get the vehicle working by doing the following: 1. Charged my battery with a stand-alone charger. It's a 80ah/990CCA battery. 2. Turned on the ignition. 3. Plugged the K+DCAN cable in the OBD port. 4. I deleted some error codes using Dr. Gini, but I think this was not necessary. 5. Opened WinKFP and selected Comfort -> Choose Custom File -> ECU: MSV80 -> ZB: 7617234 -> Done -> Program. It flashed in about 2min or so. After that, the vehicle started and worked like charm. Apparently it was the lack of power that made it fail. A million times, thank you! I hope this thread can help others, too. |
