X6"M"
Congrats on your X6 order!!! I'm sure you will love it.The X6 "M" is being tested right now.No details yet on engines, timing etc... My guess would be an "M" version of the X6 in maybe 18mons.Give some time for the X6 to be exposed to the world.I'm trying figure out timing etc...I'll keep you posted.I don't know anything about an Aero Package on the X6.The "M" I refer to is the real motorsport version "M".They added some aero packages to the X5,makes sense they would do the same for X6.Thanks! As far as I understood the X6 50i comes with two identical turbos one for each row of the V8.. This also explains the turbo lag, which is not present on the 35i.. Can you imagine the beast with 4 turbos ?? |

BMW MX6 (Mazda might have something to say about that!)
In Canada you can order your X5 with "M Sport" Package -- maybe in the States too, I don't know. It is just cosmetic stuff: M steering wheel, sport suspension, some M badging, etc. I imagine the X6 will offer something similar after the first year. If they offer a performance version, I'm betting it will be a more highly tuned version of the TTV8. People like Shiv at Vishnu will no doubt be working on that anyway. I doubt the X6 will sell in sufficient volume to justify certifying a true M version complete with manual trans and V10 engine.
Branko: The 35i has two identical turbos, each driven by the exhaust from three cylinders. The compressed air goes through a common air-to-air intercooler and then into the intake manifold that serves all six cylinders. In the 50i each (also identical) turbo feeds just four cylinders through an air-to-coolant intercooler. There is no engineering reason why the 50i should suffer any more turbo lag than the 35i. The 35d has two turbos in sequence, one smaller than the other. The small one spools up quickly at low rpm, and the bigger one provides the volume of air needed at high rpm. This combo limits lag and gives high torque from low revs right to redline. I have read the reports about turbo lag in the 50i. I'm betting it will be gone by the time the engine goes into production. All it should need is a couple of careful software tweaks. A propos nothing in particular: My local dealer's chief mechanic just came back from a familiarization session on the TTV8. He was muttering about three water pumps. I assume at least one of them will be to keep coolant circulating through the turbos after the engine is shut down. The turbos are water cooled. |

Hello boys, thank you for your answers..for me M like engine in x6 is going to be a state of the art,but pretty useless in normal life..just for museum to show what BMW is capable to invent...i think nobody needs a engine over 300 ps,maybe 400ps..you cant use all that power in real life,no to mention problems with police if you go to the limits.
so i think i should go,when be available just for aero package(meaning bumpers,etc..)..35d engine is just good for me. |
