Might be some reduction in occurrences, but 2012 are def subject to this concern.
BTW, what's a M3R?? Sounds fast

Why you mad that you paid $725 installed? IBS cables can be bought for $125 on eBay, comparible battery at Wal-Mart for $120 and do it yourself inside of hour or so.

So, some of us are getting a "High Battery Drain" and some of us an "Increased Battery Discharge" warning message...the latter for me...
...and we still don't know the difference between them and which the battery/IBS cable is the solution to? |

I had this when I installed a dash cam in my X5M and I would drive the car after periods of it sitting for a while. Even though the dash cam had a battery management thing that didn't allow the battery to go below a certain level. As soon as I got the camera removed it went away.

In our 2008 X5 4.8L we started having the high battery drain. If the car sat 2 days the battery was dead. My wife had gone to Sams and had them install a new battery but they did not install a AGM. This made our problem worse.
I picked up a cable and software to read my computer and it turned out that our pass side mirror was sending a bad reading to my computer. Fixing the mirror stopped my battery drain. I guess the computer does not go in sleep mode if it reads a bad return. Who thought of this great idea? The mirror did have a corroded connection but all functions worked before and after I cleaned the connections. Buy the cable and get the computer program to read your system or you will never fix one of these cars. |

High Battery Drain
Since last week every morning or after car parked for a while I get the "High Battery Drain" message and I noticed since this message that the rear drive side door won't lock, the radio is making noise but not on the station preset, the lift gate will open but won't go up all the way as used do. Battery installed by the dealer less than 2 years ago.

I had the high battery drain issue and saved a lot of headache thanks to this thread. Noted my drivers CA handle stopped working around the same time and put 2+2 together. Didn't have any noticable heat from it but after disconnecting the drain warnings went away.
Question I have though is where to purchase a replacement. Looking online haven't found much and can't even for sure find part number... I understand they need to be painted so is dealer only option? Can I take apart handle and only swap CAS components to avoid painting? Any other options if I want CAS to work as intended. For now swapped rear and front so driver door works but don't like things not working. How much ate people being quoted by dealers? I have an e70 lci. |

Hi everyone, new here but been following the forum for some time. I'm recently having battery problems too, X5 E70 2009 M-Sport (No Comfort Access). Recently my battery seems to be losing charge a lot faster, over the weekend I drove to a Car Wash, set on the side while the guys were washing, once done I tried to start the car and the battery was completely flat. Another guy assisted me to jump-start. Then I noticed that everytime I start the car the music won't play until I manually switch the radio on. When U switch off the car the music also stops immediately. Read a few tips from the Forum, yesterday I took the battery out and put it on a charger, once full replaced it. Suddenly the music plays as soon as the key is in. Not sure how long this will hold up! The Battery is 2 years old, previous one being the original. Judging from this I suspect that the car somehow thinks the battery is full and never commanding the Alternator to charge it. Thinking of visiting Battery dealer to check if all is still set up correctly. This sucks, how do I know if the Battery is AGM incase I need to buy a new one?
