Finally deleted DPF/SCR & EGR!
Well guys I have done it! Stage 2 tune by Malone tuning. I'm so happy with this setup! The power increase is amazing! And I'm in love with the turbo noise, I also have jbd on at 50% so going to get it on a dyno soon and see what the real numbers are!

you are stacking the Malone tune with the JDB?

Why though? Makes no sense. I've driven my buddies x5d with the Malone stage 2 tune and it doesn't need more power. Even on my x5d, I'm running the JR stage 2.8 tune and there's plenty of power.
Don't think it's a good idea to stack a jdb box on top of a tune Last edited by sunny_j; 06-15-2018 at 06:36 PM.. |

I just didn't want to remove it and I saw on a forum that someone else stacked it and they were fine.Didn't think it would hurt anything. Unless you can inform so I don't break anything because of it.

I’d be concerned about the fuel pressure. This is how the JBD gets more power and most people will only max out at 80% on a stock tune. I’d be curious to know if the other tune has increased the fuel pressure and by how much as that could be compounded with the JBD. The issue is when you have too much pressure there is a valve to control it, if you are constantly making that valve work and it eventually fails, then what?

Malone tune has conservative rail pressure. Stacking the JBD will add power but can also damage injectors. 1900bar is about max the Injectors will handle. The rail sensor maxes at 1840bar. The JBD tricks the sensor thus tricking the dde. Too much pressure will damage the Injectors.
Truth be told, power is limited my the torque limiters, so, if you’re adding fuel via a JBD, you’re till limited by the torque limiter. Lastly, the edc17cp09 dde uses Lambda for tuning. If you stack the JBD and you add fuel, the DDE will adapt eventually pulling fuel other ways to hit target lambda. If you want more rail pressure in your tune, PM me. |

Power wise they are about the same. Malones tune creates more soot and diesel fumes compared to the JR tunes.
He's on vacation right now but I plan on drag racing him (on a closed course) when he gets back. His x5d has the same options including 20's wheels. Should be interesting... I still gotta sell my JDB box. It's sitting collecting dust now.
