22" Tires.
Those of you running 22" wheels, what are you doing for tires?
The 335/25 Pirelli Scorpions have been discontinued. There is a newer Pirelli in the same size, but there is no matching 285-295/30 front. I know Continental, SportContact 6, has the right sizes, but are not available here in the US. Off-brand tires are not an option (yet). Thanks! |

Look at Vredestein Vorti.

Good luck finding those as well. Late last year I was on the hunt and could only find a single front tire in the whole US. I had called 10-15 tire shops from east to westcoast, they all use the same couple of distributors. I put a lot of effort into finding them because I had rears sitting in the garage. Ultimately ended up shipping the rears back and settling with the scorpions. Word is that there should be more inventory coming for summer though.
Hopefully Continental will start importing the SC6 sizes we need. |

Not the Vorti but I had the Vred Ultra Sessanta on my X5 and liked them. Softer sidewall than I prefer.

Finally, they discontinued them. I never was a fan of the Pirelli Scorpion. Noisy, harsh and poor grip.
I have nothing but good things to say about Continental Contact Sport 6. I have them on both of my sets of 22s (295/335) so hopefully they will available to US market. Can't go wrong with Vreds, ran them in the past and very capable tires! |

I emailed Pirelli with this rumor and they said it's not true. Either way, the ones I do find are upwards of almost $700 each vs two years ago when I bought two for $650 on Amazon. Crucify me for this but I've been looking at Lexani and Lionhart because, let's be honest, a 22" wheel and tires package of these sizes aren't meant to be used for aggressive driving or track use...I'll switch back to my 20" for that. The previous owner of my E53 X5 put some Lexani LX4000 tires on the iForged 20's and they seemed to develop flat spots from sitting overnight but was fine once warmed up. Hopefully they've gotten better over the years.

The Pirelli Scorpion Zero Asimmetrico, as a line, has not been discontinued, but the 335/25/22 is no longer available. No one has this tire in stock and it is no longer listed on their site as an available size.
I think the tire you are looking at, from Pirelli, is the P Zero - a completely different tire. It is available in the 335/25/22, but there is no matching 285-295/30/22 front available. And, yes, this is a ~$600 tire. The only two options appear to be the Vredestein Ultrac Vorti and the Continental SportContact6. These are both available in 335/25 & 295/30 combo. The Vredestein appear to be readily available in the US. The Continentals are not currently available in the US, but if you're the resourceful type, you could... |

Of course, if you're at the track I recommend you spend a bit and get some track ready tire. In over a year and a half of ownership I can tell you that not once have I needed a track spec tire, and I DRIVE. With that said, I'd rather have new Lexani's on my ride every 8 months than one set of some $2K++ fan boy tires. |

I think this is going sideways. I agree, $600 for a single tire is outrageous.
The Vredestein and Continentals are comparably priced. I sourced and paid €1120 for the SportContacts6s shipped to the US. For me, I'd rather pay a small premium, over Lexani or Lionhart, for what I perceive as a quality tire. |

I had to do a 500 mile round trip drive twice in the past month. Guess what I did? I slapped on my stocks with nice juicy Pirellis and I drove. When I got back home I slapped on the 22's. It takes me 20 minutes, literally, to swap tires. I'm like a one man pit crew. It's all about having the right tools. For DD going to work and back and the occasional red light blast, I'm sure any tire will do. Sitting in LA rain! |

hey guys, I have 22" rims, 9" front and 10.5" rear. the only tires I could find to fit were lexani" LX-TWENTY 265/30R22 97W XL front and 315 /25R22 101W XL rear. but when I went to get them put on today discount tires said the load rating is not right, that the tires would get hot and be crushed. I've never in life had this much trouble finding tires for a vehicle. I find only Pirelli tires would work, which are very expensive and the rears are on back order until who knows when, right??

Seems for whatever reason US distributors don't feel the need to bring them in.
Perhaps with some pressure from retailers that might change. Vreds are good to go from what I hear, so I'd choose them over Pirelli anyday! |
