I'm on day 15 and they are waiting on the last of three parts that mine requires. They are hoping it will arrive tomorrow, but they said that about all three parts last week. This is a larger dealer and the only BMW dealer in town. They have an extensive loaner fleet of over 200 cars. So even if they had several of the pre-stock kits, those parts are long gone given their sales volume.

Scheduled mine to go in next Saturday. SA said there are 5 waiting on kits now and none needed timing chains. He also said all the parts in the kit have new part numbers. He's theory is that the U.S. fuel is not as good of quality as Europe, South Africa and other places and the old parts were built with higher quality fuel in mind. So the redesigned part should be better suited for our fuel quality, He hopes.
It make sense to me, my X was in a month ago and had 3 injectors replaced and all plugs done but they also had to drain the entire fuel system. When they tested the fuel it had 50% more ethanol in it than it should have. Just this week I had 2 misfires and the reduced power engine malfunction light come on. Oh and all the injectors were replaced 10k miles ago. |

It sounds like most of you are actually having many of the items on the list replaced aside from the timing chain. Has anybody got a clean bill of health on theirs - no work needed?

After 17-days mine was finally ready to be picked up. I did get the swag bag which consisted of a BMW paper bag, a BMW water bottle (trust me, nothing fancy), a BMW umbrella and a BMW coffee mug.

My SA called me this afternoon to give me an update, but unfortunately, I was quite distracted at work, so didn't pay enough attention to her words. This is what I recall: - No timing chain replacement - No injector replacement, either as they are already the "right" index (I see in my service history an item for "leaking injector" done in early 2013. I suspect they put in new injectors then) - No battery replacement, as I got a new one just a few weeks ago - replacing hose lines (don't know of which - I'm assuming fuel), hot-film something (i'm assuming MAFs) Still waiting on parts from. No idea when they'll get it (probably a week). I've sent an email asking for more details. Will update this post once I hear something. |

Haha I'm sure they do but from what I've heard the S63 is a lot more reliable than the N63...not to mention 155 more hp I'm looking to get into a 2010-2013 since I'm not a fan of the new body style...I think the E70 has a timeless look just like the E46

I dropped mine off last night and was told that BMW sent out a stern email to no longer take them in unless there is actual problems. My SA said that he was going to try and "push" mine through. They also said that there is 900 in queue and that there are only six BMW tech at BMW NA that diagnose these.
I hope to get good news on Monday. Go patriots! |

Probably wise on BMW. I was receiving engine malfunction warnings; three in a two week timeframe. The parts took the majority of the time; the day after it was dropped off they determined only three parts were required and the last arrived yesterday (29th) and I picked it up today.

It would really help if we all listed the build date of our X5s. You can get this from any VIN Decoder. I use: http://www.bmwarchiv.de/vin/bmw-vin-decoder.html
Mine was June 9th 2011 and is getting all the parts. Timing chain was fine.

8.27.10. Went in Wednesday, haven't heard anything yet. Said it would be at least 2.5 weeks. Never had any problems other than the battery being replaced about 1 year ago.
They have 30 right now waiting on parts. |

Got mine back yesterday. 20 days in the shop.
Build date - June 2010 Replaced: vacuum pump, fuel feed line, turbo gaskets, PCV lines, vent pipes, mass air meter, changed the oil, and reprogrammed the oil change interval. (was stupidly long to begin with, idiots.) No replacement of battery, timing chains, or injectors. Battery - surprised by that one. Maybe the mild PNW temperatures help? Timing chains - not surprised, doesn't seem like many of those are being done? Injectors - had two of those replaced last summer (plus spark plugs) under warranty. It drove great and the power feels as good, maybe better than before. No complaints yet. |

The battery wasn't replaced as you are out of warranty. They will only cover the battery if you are under the factory warranty/maintenance and if it wasn't replaced within the last 12-months. So don't be surprised that you didn't get a battery; you didn't qualify for it.
