X6M on Dinan lowering kit
Put a set of Dinan lowering kit on my X6M few months ago.It came with front shock mount(D110-0011),rear shock mount(D110-0012),front spring(D100-0760H), shock stopper(D190-7101) and rear link.
After few months,my car drop only 10mm instead of 19mm(3/4')as advertised. So the height is 79cm(31.1') if measured on center of the wheel from floor to fender on 4 corners. Any member had experiance with Dinan lowering kit and willing to share? |

I got the Dinan installed 4 weeks ago at a certified dealer. The drop was as stated, 20mm, and very uniform all around. However, my X6M is back to the dealer as the left side ended up moving 22mm higher, and was that much higher than the right side. I think there is computer control of ride hight, as the dealer is reprograming and aligning to fix. I will let you know how it works out. My impression of the ride change with the Dinan is the new suspension is very different. There is not much difference between EDC on and off. The Dinan sort of makes the EDC off ride about midway between the original. That is actually perfect for me. I am very happy with the upgrade. What is your impression? Cheers, |

Hi..Lucabratsi
Thanks a lot for your respond. Mine was installed by BMW service center. Lucky you! 20mm drop is all I need since not fan of big drop.IMHO..big drop on X6M will make the car looks like BMW GT. I can't feel any different compare to original maybe because mine only drop 10mm and quite sure something wrong with mine. Can you tell me the height of your car measured on center of the wheel from floor until fender? Highly appreciated for your info. |

I received no shock mounts only springs in front and links in back.. back sits lower then front still after 5 weeks,,,may have to raise rear but then the drop will be extremely subtle to put it nicely.

Hi Kerrazy may I know the height of your car measured on center of the wheel from floor to fender?
Hi Zoex5M looks like we have almost same height here. My 22' wheel is on the way and I believe it will not make any different(in height). |

I measured from the center of the wheel to the inside lip of the fender well. That is what my dealer told me is the correct hieght measurement. Right Front= 44.3cm, Left Front=46.9cm, Right Rear=43.5cm, Left Rear=46.0cm. Front Left:Right Differential is 2.6cm, Rear Left:Right Differential is 2.5cm. So this gives the look of the M actually tilted. You can actually feel the slant of the vehicle. Dealer insists it is within "Dinan specifications" I am looking to this forum to verify this. I measured a standard NEW X6M, and the differential was 0.5cm. What Left:Right differential do others have with the Dinan suspension? As for the Dinan suspension parts, they are the latest front coils, all 4 yellow stops, and the two links for the rear hieght adjustment. Cheers, As |

Hi Lucabratsi
Wow....I think your problem worst then mine.It happen since first day or after some time? I dont understand why the dealer keep saying it within Dinan spec.,for sure its not accepable.25-26mm different ...its A LOT! Why dont you try to adjust rear end from the link or computer to make left n right level and see if it will efect front end too? Sorry for my 'bad' English |

What are the actual Dinan specs as far as measurement from center of wheel to fender? I don't see them anywhere on the Dinan site. What are the acceptable tolerances and differentials in height to be "within spec"?

Hello..
Got information from local Dinan distributor. They said we should disconnecting the rear end link before adjusting the height by computer. After follow their instruction, my car height now is 78cm for front, 77cm for rear and zero different between left and right, before was 79cm for all corners. Quote:

I need to check mine. I got the Dinan installed in the spring and was hoping I would see the front springs settle more than they have. Visually the front height is definitely not as low as other Dinan equipped XM models I have seen in this forum.

Hello,
I just got my M back, and the dealer was able to fix the height to within <5mm. The problem was the front springs. There is no adjustment to the front, you get what the springs give you. So a new set of springs was put in. The rear however is fully adjustable via the links. I have to say that Dinan support was stellar. You can tell alot about a company on how they fix problems. I will continue to measure for some time, to see if there is any significant changes. Cheers, |

Looks like Dinan offers 2 options:
1) Springs & Bumpstops (this is included in the Signature Package) - It mentions .750" Front & Rear, although my local Dinan installer told me it was .500" http://dinancars.com/product/perf-su...ries&mid=1136/ 2) Springs Only - Claims .750" drop Front and Rear http://dinancars.com/product/d100-09...ries&mid=1136/ Are you guys all talking about having the same product (Springs only or springs & bumpstops) ? |

Hello, You can't just do front springs. You need the adjustable links to lower the rear as well. So spings and rear links go together. The bump stops are optional, yet not reccommended to leave them out if you want to keep the stock travel before bottoming out. Cheers, |

You are not missing anything. The springs only option comes with the rear height adjustable links. Just blow up the picture and you will see them. Cheers, |
