“evap fault”
I was told by the BMW dealership service experts that my X6 has an “evap fault”. Anyone knows what this is all about? How much can something like this cost to repair? What could possibly go wrong to receive an error such as “evap fault”? Can this be a DIY project? Anyone had any experience with this? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated ...

Likely a 2A15, 2A16 fault. The problem with this fault is it's difficult to find but once you do, the parts are generally inexpensive (on a E90 anyway) and I assume it would be more or less the same on a X6 and is definitely DIY-able.

Did you find fix for this problem, I have same fault code, 2B28 on scammer and P0456 on my phone scanner, I changed so many random parts, diagnostic pump, purge valve, filter, gas cap and code still keeps coming back in every 4-5 days, what was an issue in your case.?
