Silly comment, but just in case - remember those are set to the key being used. So if you swap keys, the presets change too.

Send a message via AIM to Ridiculous
Have had this happening on my 11 X6 5.0 for over a year on and off. The dealer originally said it was a faulty negative terminal. I have this issue now and plan on asking for the AGM battery.

My 2010 X5 4.8i is in for service right now for both the "High Battery Drain" issue as well as "Remote Battery Discharged" message.

I don't think they're related.

We'll see if the dealer replaces the battery, and if so, with an AGM battery or not....

Old Thread - great information for the issue. Officialy PUMA has noted on the reprogramming the car yesterday-"unfavorable driving profile." Hmm, nothing to do with the car taking 30 minutes to go into sleep mode.....

Looks like Canadians have the worst luck with batteries...mine actually had a few high discharge warning a few months ago the SA told me its common here because of when we start it in the cold we run too many accessories at once fans on high, steering wheel heater, seat heaters ect mine is always parked in a heated garage or under ground parking and is rarely left outside for more than a few hours. It however hasn't went dead or failed to start on me yet.

Anyway my question is, is it hard on the battery to trickle charge it? If they say the computer needs to programmed with a new battery or the vehicles charging schedule will shorten the life of the battery wouldn't charging the battery basically have the same effect?

Almost exactly 1 year on from my post, an update.

Since the new AGM battery there have been absolutely no problems. This is despite using the X5 much much less and not putting on the trickle charger.

So the new AGM and reprogramming of the alternator has done the job.

Same here; i bought my 2011 x5, with this message;
dealer claimed it is because the car was parked on a lot for a long time; i took it back to them, since it was a CPO; the diagnostics said "battery is flat"; they have replaced it with an Exide battery at no cost.. no more message since then..

Shat!

I received the new AGM in my ///M but no reprogram of the alternator....if I tell the dealer will they know what to do?

Fortunately truck is parked and trickle charged since new battery installed so I can't attest to the new AGM

Could this be caused by a battery problem?

I recently got a 2011 x5 m..Does anyone know why my halos/tail lights would not light up when clicking the unlock button on remote? They were working for awhile they suddenly stopped. The welcome light settings are on and lighting is also set on auto...could it be battery problem? it did indicated "low battery" and "increased battery discharge" but went away......feedback please?

Can you charge the battery through the boosting points under the hood or should you go right to the battery?

I was told to charge through the contact under the hood if I needed to by the dealership. No need to go to the battery. I also experienced the High Battery Drain message and when I brought my vehicle in they replaced my battery under warranty. They attributed the failed battery to too short of distanced drives.

Mine is more preventative, my wife does lots of short trips so I hooked my charger to it and it read 25% so I left it for a while and it only came up to 50% I left the charger on but I had to go out of own for work so I will have to ask my wife what % it showed in the morning.

When my car read that, certain things stopped working (Comfort Access, the fan inside the car, the lights inside the car, etc). The dealer said that is on purpose and occurs after the high battery drain message.

I have not updated my post here recently but my high battery drain message would appear - but only in times of extreme cold. The dealer ended up replacing the battery but it was still giving the message. Then ended up tracing it back to a bad cable. The work order says "Replace Battery Positive Cable" however the part says "1 12-42-7-603-567 Battery Cable, Negative IBS:611030"

And that is what they had told me - the IBS cable had a short in it.

Well maybe tomorow Will be the end to the drain saga, the dealer said today that they have maybe found the problem (again, fourth time lol ) now it's a sensor for the transmission that causes the wake ups and the drains, still don't know what the cost of the repairs will be if its finish tomorrow, but two weeks at the dealer, I am scared

Uh oh... noticed slower starting... and got the "High Battery Drain" light. We'll see what the dealership says tomorrow. Told my wife to ask for the black battery instead of the white battery. We'll see what happens.
