I'm new. can some one answer this question?

i just bought a used 2009 x6 50i. My question is when I'm driving and i come to a stop, sometimes the parking light turns on , on the dash. Is that normal or do i have to get it serviced ?

I think you just have the automatic parking brake on. It should be behind the gear shift to the left. If you hit the button it should stop

on my 2012 x6, the "Hold" feature of the parking brake (keeps the brakes on until you tap the gas to prevent rollbacks and idlecreep) disables itself every time you stop the engine. I have to manually reactivate it every time I want to use it (which is never)

Also, the "park hold" light is a green light, different from the standard red "parking brake" indicator in the instrument cluster.

OP - in short, if your red "parking brake" light is coming on randomly when you stop, I think you should get the car checked out.

After you get that fixed, I hope you love your car super plenty - it's a cool machine!
