X5M Having Trouble Starting
Hey guys, recently my X5M has had a strange issue starting.
When the car has sat for a while (a couple of hours maybe) it seems to take a bit of time to start. Like the starter is spinning just fine but it takes 2-3 seconds to actually catch and start up. I don't think it is the battery, but what voltage should the battery be reading both before cranking and during cranking? I have a multimeter and can check the voltage. Does anyone have any other items I can check? Thanks, Paul |

Could be leaking injectors if the cranking start issue only show up after set for few hours but not cold start.
does it sounds similar like this ? Last edited by Zige; 05-28-2015 at 09:02 PM.. |

Injectors are a pain in the ass on these cars. The job is tedious and everything has specific torque specs. That and you have to program each new injector with the DME. When I pulled mine out to replace they look like they were swimming in oil.

I swapped a coil and sparkplug followed by clearing the cel i had. Once the lite came back on I looked at the service history and saw the injectors were never replaced.
Not sure if theres a way to check them but the drivers side is a little easier to get to as oppose to the passenger side bank. Forum member M3_guy's tip can point to faulty injectors with the darkening of the exhaust tips. |
