BMW X5 E70 Latch issue

For a few days, I noticed a rattling noise. After checking, I found that a screw was slightly loose, so I tightened it. However, the rattling persisted. Upon further inspection, I discovered that the left screw had come off.

How can I fix this issue?

Is there a reason you can't put the screw back in and tighten it?
