Diesels actually weigh closer to 5,500lbs, I weighed mine last night and it was 5,4xx with a 1/4 tank of fuel. I doubt anyone cares which is faster in the quarter mile it's unlikely anyone that buys either of those vehicles will ever take them to a track. Maybe do a 1/4mile run while towing a boat that would at least peak some interest.
