My recommendation is to figure out a general area of where you will want to stop. For me, we did the factory tour after delivery (I think that is still closed however) and then made sure we went through the Tail of the Dragon on the way home. Ultimately ended up stopping close to 11:30PM and to be honest, that was too late and we were way tired the last 2 hours of the drive.
So figure out what time you will be leaving (you really should be done by say 1:30/2PM I think) and then your route home. Find a decent sized city in the area of about when you are done driving (remember, it is a long day!) and from there check out hotels.com or one of the sites where you can specify Bed and Breakfast.
That's the best I can do since I did not take your route home - sorry!
