Have you read the details on engine replacement? I'm at 90k miles. It's cheaper to fix the engine then pay 40% BMW's cost to have them do it.
What do you think?

Yes I'm very familiar with the situation. I was aware that the lawsuit was coming in summer of 17.
I followed the case like a hawk, called the lawyers, saw the preliminary solution when it was released on May 5th.
Repairing or replacing the engine depends how fucked up it is, in both cases, they have to remove the engine from the car. That being said, the N63 engine block dropped from 9K to 3K in December and it continues to drop. I decided to just get the new engine since it was a wash between repairing and replacing.
In Regards to repair costs.... You need to be good at negotiating, have a long-standing relationship with the Head Service Manager, and buy a lot of cars from that dealer over 20 years.
Regardless, I was quoted $15,000 for complete engine replacement.
My SA went to war with BMW NA.... and through some prolonged negotiating all 3 parties came to an agreement.
BMW contributed $6,000 towards the repair
My Dealership gave me a $4,500 credit toward my next BMW car-purchase.
So I paid $9,000 once the car was complete.
Since I had about 85,000 miles on the car, BMW NA will contribute 55% on the paid repair cost of $9K.
Add all this shit up and if you factor in the $1,000 voucher and $4,500 Credit towards my next BMW, I will come out +$1000.
New engine comes with a 2 year warranty - unlimited miles.
Now I just need to decided what BMW to purchase next.
