So I did that, and the very nice service advisor just told me it will take a few days to fix. They'll give me a loaner, but what the heck are they going to be doing with it for a few *DAYS*?

I searched online and saw this isn't an uncommon problem, but I didn't see anyone else having their car in the shop for that long, and I haven't found any likely answers about what the actual cause might be. Has anyone had this issue, and can you share any info about it?

Thanks in advance.
Most likely problem is with a gap in your MOST fiber optic network in your X6M. It will take time for BMW dealership to locate the gap and then fix it (most likely replace it), since in most cases fiber optic is not reparable.
So actually might be a hardware problem? I guess that would explain the wait. I thought it was just going to be a software thing so I was having a hard time seeing why it would take so long.

Thanks for the explanation- much appreciated!
