I did see a used X5M in the lot and it's rotors looked fine just normal aluminum oxidation so who knows.

One idea is to have the rotor hats clear powder coated and that way you keep the elements off of them, the brake dust is acidic so it will affect the aluminum over time. Same reason if you don't clean your rims the brake dust will damage your wheel finish.
Could be, but that is not what I saw. these were brand new 2017's sitting in the lot and all the rotors and hats were rusted, discolored and corrosion build up. I also put a magnet on the rotor hat and it was magnetic (aluminum alloy with high iron content I suppose). I hope I am wrong....just have to wait until some one with these chimes in here.
