I was able to grab the shade with a hook and pull it out. For now, I'm leaving it up on the hooks. I'll have to examine the connection more closely, but my first thought is that I might be able to use a watchband pin and fabricate my own pull tab.

I can't think of a cheap proper fix, unless you had the tab piece and could attach it somehow. If you can get the screen up out of the door perhaps drill a little hole in that top bar and thread something through it like a pull tab or key ring, something large enough to stop it from falling in the door slot. I know, not terribly OEM, but I know a new shade will be costly.
