We have this thing called vehicle safety regulations. Some of the strictest in the world. a tow rating is not a hard fast rule. Your EU vs US rating numbers are crap, and nothing more than differences in rules/regulations.
Either way, both accomplish the same exact task, and both have proven themselves in various circumstances.
