I would think it can be done with only a couple of non functional buttons (ie M button). I think there's a website others might direct you to called "bmw oem" or "real oem;" something to that effect. Try there...but I would just pay the money through the dealer and maybe they could even install it. Expensive but worth the money if you want it that bad; and done right too.
