Same thing happened to me this past weekend. 2009 3.0 44k, I got the loud fan noise and then got a series of warnings on the Idrive. I drove it slowly, wouldn't go past 30mph (limp mode) and right as I'm pulling into the dealer it says "warning engine temp high pull over turn off vehicle". Warranty expired end of January, eleven days ago. Holeman BMW of Mt laurel Nj approved the goodwill repair. Should be ready tomorrow, $0 out of pocket. My SA Chris is the best SA I've ever had. Very knowledgable and got me approved for the goodwill repair !
