I guess jersey coppers are not as tough as nypd. You never know what you will get, and if you are ticketed it is way too expensive, i think it's like $125 or so (good luck finding the law in DMV website).
I asked my dealer not to drill my bumper, I will take a chance without it, if it looks like I will get a ticket, I will just slap it where you have yours. Remember your excuse/complain may not work after a while, cop can just take a look at your registration date or insurance papers and find out you own the vehicle for a long time.
Or they may put a note on their internal system similar to "let go with a warning". When you ride in a 65k vehicle, it is always an eye catcher.
