Even face to face you have to be extremely careful.
I always meet a person in a bank where there is CCTV. Will only do the test drive with 1-person.
Once the deal is made I do not touch the cash (if paying cash). I escort them into my bank, they hand the $ to the teller & deposit into account. If there are fake bills you are insured by bank.
Cashiers check & other forms of payment have their unique risk as well.
