Exclamation 2012 X5 35d w/ 18,000KM Engine Problems - What to do?

We recently bought a new 2012 BMW x5 35d. Only had it for like 18,000 km, 9 months. Last week I tried starting it and it was shaking and wouldn't start for a minute and then said to take it to the dealer asap. Took it back to the dealership and they said that the car might need a new engine and some other small things (fuel injectors, plugs, filters etc changed) here and there. I am wondering what the best thing to do is if the car does indeed need a new engine.

I never thought a BMW diesel engine would have to be replaced after such a short period of time and I am wondering if the car is a lemon? If I can expect to experience other problems with the car in the future?

From what i have been reading, it seems like the electrical has been the main concern, but there has not really been any problems with the engines with other drivers. What is the best thing to do? Thanks in advanced for your responses!
