I have a 2009 X5 xDrive35D - the diesel one - and I couldn't be happier. I bought it with 122,000 kilometers (not miles), and it runs solid. I agree that the gas model is a gas guzzler, but the diesel variant is more acceptable, comparable to my extended wheelbase minivan.
