1) do you have the car set to lock all doors once you start driving? Do you have your "unlock" set to only drivers door.
If your remote is set to unlock driver, then the rear never unlocked.
If your car is set to lock when driving, when you stop, shut off, and get out, only the drivers door would unlock and the rear would still be locked.
2) on your iPhone under the Bluetooth settings, there is a setting for "show notifications". Not sure what year your x5 is but text works but emails does not work on my 2012
