I hate Pirelli's too but have Pirelli Scorpion Winters on my X5M and they were spectacular in the loooong Montana winter. I have square 20" BBS + DWS on the car 9 months out of the year, and although they are good, they are no match for the Scorpion Winters in the snow. I wouldn't drive the DWS in our winter conditions willingly. The Cayenne crowd seems to have adopted the Pirelli Scorpion Winter as the best tire for their heavy trucks so I followed their lead.

My winter set-up is with 19" 298M wheels ($1,750 delivered) and another $1,100 for the winter rubber.
