e. Selected Config Bluetooth
f. Ticked Office

2. Configure your iPhone
a.Settings - Notifications -Messages - Notification On, change the number of notifications to show in the lock screen*
b.While still in the above menu, also makes sure "view in Lock Screen"** is on.
c.Settings - Bluetooth - click on the BMW link for your car (should say connected), and make sure "show on screen" is selected

* you need to change the number of notifications each and every time you get in the car

** Most sites report you have to do this under Mail. I think that is if you want the email messages showing up - my post is for the text messages

Overall, this is not ready for primetime yet. I'm hoping a patch from BMW and/or Apple makes this work a lot easier.
THANK YOU for the iNstructions!

Tried it all, unpaired both phones and followed all the steps and it still does not work. I even get to ask filter?! my messages question and I tick I want to see them all and still nothing, even had the mail notifications turned on also. Am getting real frustrated about this. I was not able to update the software via USB, but via BMW Teleservices, it was even stated it is updating Telephone and Media and that it was successful.....
This all sucks, mega sucks, wasted an hour now, feel like I do not want to do it again, but I know I will want to make it work tommorow already
My car is April 2011 production, I have apps and all of that...
