I have a 12A battery charger, so I just hooked that up and left the car sitting. It did take about an hour. Apparently I started out with a fairly discharged battery in the x5 because at one point the car started shutting things down and wouldn't stay "on" very long, but turns out if you start the car back up it will restart the installation where it left off, so no "bricking" worries!

I installed the maps on my 2011 e90 as well, starting with a fresh battery, and just used a normal trickle charger, and it worked perfectly!
