Does anyone know an easy way to put the vent adjuster tab back on?

It fell off the center console and seems impossible to put back on without removing the vent which from my research seems to require removing the entire center console.

I asked my SA on a recent visit if they could do it, he said they couldn't and the only way to 'fix it' is to replace the entire vent. Only $363 for parts and labor...no way in it's worth spending that much to replace a tab.
