I currently have a baby on the way and decided to try the infant carrier and base to see what it's gonna be like. We got the Chicco KeyFit30 becuase it appeared to be more compact than others we saw. It's a bit tight getting in and out, but for me it's not going to be enough of a PITA for me to consider getting rid of my 1er. My wife is short so she would be able to sit in the front for short rides, long ride might get uncomfortable as the seat is straight up basically and all the way up front. It works for us though as our family car will be my wife's Tiguan, just needed a base in the 1er for when picking up the baby from grandma and grandpa's. Hope that helps
