Catastrophic Engine Failure 2011 X5 50i

Hey all,

Had a major malfunction with my CPO 2011 50i M-Sport this morning. Was driving about 65-70 mph and went to accelerate when the car suddenly made a terrible grinding, shearing (metal falling on the ground) type of noise with very heavy vibration. After about 20-30 seconds of this, the engine malfunction warning came on but the engine never shut down.

After I coasted off the highway, I looked under the car and it appeared that all of the motor oil had poured out of the engine with a long trail of it behind the car as well. I'm no auto mechanic but am assuming this was a broken piston rod?

My question is this...Will the CPO warranty cover a new engine if that is what is deemed necessary? The car has 70K miles on it and is covered up to 100K I believe. Hoping to get a diagnosis from the dealer in the morning and trying to prepare against them screwing me too much. Any help/advice much appreciated!
