Everything is relative ... a cell phone you use every day (every hour ... every minute?), so it is possible to actually measure the utility of it.
A warranty on the other hand, especially a BMW extended warranty, may be used occasionally,

when ...
The question that needs to be asked is: where does the use of your dollars have better value over time? In your (investment) account or in BMW's hands?
Financing a extended warranty is no even worth a discussion ...
