Great story! Here's my contribution,

Years ago I had an Audi allroad. One weekend, a couple friends and I were in Lake Tahoe and decided to drive to Reno. We got our asses handed to us in the casinos and my buddies got drunk. So broke and pissed off that I was the designated driver, and wanting to see what the allroad could do, I opened it up on an empty straightway around 6 AM on a Sunday morning with no one else on the road. No one except the local police hidden and waiting for idiots like me.

I actually pulled over myself when I saw the red and blue lights waaaay in the distance. Officer claimed he tagged me at 81 in a 55, but then wrote on the ticket that he "COULD NOT OVERTAKE AT 135." That's probably about right, as the last time I looked at the speedo it was 120. So despite the lecture, actually a nice guy for not sending me to jail. Of course, my buddies were passed out through the whole thing.

In hindsight, I wonder if I should have just continued on my way instead of slowing. It's probable if I didn't slow down myself, no way he'd catch me before I was well beyond his jurisdiction, although maybe he would have radioed ahead to someone...less forgiving.
